Whether you like to admit it or not, we are influenced by celebrities. There is no getting away from them, they are everywhere in our magazines, on our TV’s and all over the internet. They are constantly being judged and are an influence to many so it’s no wonder they are under pressure to dress to impress! That’s why we love finding out about British GQ Magazine’s annual best and worst dressed males as we get to discover which celebrities received attention for all the right and wrong reasons!
This year, GQ crowned 23 year old South London rapper, Tinie Tempah, as their “best dressed male of 2012” with a style that varies from preppy to urban to effortless to colourful. His signature item is a par of thick rimmed Ray-Ban glasses which give his outfits the nerd look. The nerd look has been around for many seasons and still continues to be an admired style by celebrities such as Kanye West and Jay-Z. Tinie’s style is an easily accessible look as retailers such as Topman and ASOS stock clothing and accessories which reflect his style.
Maybe all this talk of ‘best dressed male’ has got to his head as Tinie plans to introduce his very own clothing range ‘Disturbing London’ which is set to launch later on this year. Unfortunately for singer Chris Brown, he was labelled by GQ the “worst-dressed man” whose style appears to have no direction. For those who have seen his ‘Take You Down’ and his more recent ‘Strip’ videos, you will know his body is not exactly a bad sight to look at so why does he constantly wear unflattering clothes! Chris Brown, we all think it’s time for you to hire a stylist or if you already have one, please find somebody new!
Wearing bright colours, as our best dressed male likes to do, will put you ahead of the trends whether you are male or female as colour and print makes a come back this Spring/Summer. Designers such as Alexander McQueen, Versace and Stephanie Rolland let their colourful designs do the talking in their Spring/Summer 2012 collections.
