Summers Biggest Street Party, Carnival 2009

With temperatures reaching 28 degrees, fragrances of jerk chicken and rice and peas in the air and the sounds of steel bands and Soca music sweeping the streets…it is no wonder why up to 500,000 revellers danced their way through west London on the final day of the Notting Hill Carnival.

Notting Hill Carnival was filled with a number of elaborately dressed masquerade artists and hundreds of floats that made their way through the 3.5-mile route in west London. More than 200,000 people attended the carnival on Sunday for the children's parade, whilst figures more than doubled that on bank holiday Monday.

Attendee’s of this years scorching event included 2009 nominee for Best UK Act Bashy and the stunning Jade Ewen who we saw dancing through the streets with R&B sensation Ryan Lesley.

We at MOBO defiantly enjoyed the massive street party. Did you go Carnival this year? We would love to hear your views on what you thought of the event.
