So Solid Crew And Laura Mvula Confirmed To Perform At 2013 MOBO Awards In Glasgow!!
MOBO is happy to announce that four time MOBO Award nominee, Laura Mvula and two time MOBO Award winner the So Solid Crew are to perform at this year's 18th anniversary awards show.
Following the announcement of Rudimental, Tinie Tempah and Australian rapper Iggy Azalea earlier this summer, we have added the pioneering grime collective So Solid Crew and soul sensation Laura Mvula to the highly anticipated line up.
“This year’s 18th anniversary show is set to be our biggest yet!” says inspirational MOBO Awards founder and CEO, Kanya King MBE.
“MOBO turning 18 is a huge achievement and we have some truly incredible artists on the shortlist who demonstrate the diverse range of music that is at the heart of British youth culture and beyond. Our aim has always been to give a platform and voice to emerging and established artists of MOBO music - we celebrate these artists all year round. We’re really proud of the nominees and wish them all the best with the public vote and the show in Glasgow on October 19!”
The remaining five top secret acts will be revealed shortly and to celebrate the new announcements, we have joined forces with O2 to offer fans exclusive Priority Tickets to this year’s 18th anniversary show at Glasgow’s brand new SSE Hydro.
As of 9am, Wednesday September 18
, O2 customers will have the chance of getting a limited number of premium seats with unparalleled views of the event from o2priority.co.uk/tickets.
These premium seat tickets will then go on sale to the general public from Friday, September 20
2013 is not the first year for the So Solid Crew to set the MOBO Awards stage alight. In 2001, the group took home awards for Best Newcomer and Best UK Garage Act. After making plenty of noise at this year’s nominations party, Mega Man from the So Solid Crew knows how to get the fans in the mood:
“Get ready for one of So Solid’s biggest stage performances yet! For everybody who witnessed us on the 2001 MOBO Awards we’re going to bring the house down – the So Solid way!!"
Their 2001 performance of '21 seconds’ has remained ingrained in British music history, with MOBO nominated artist's Shakka and Angel to MOBO Award winner Labrinth, who all recall on the time when So Solid first performed at the MOBO Awards. These artist's felt that this provided them with encouragement to pursue their own music careers and venture into mainstream music.
Expect a highly energetic 'throwback' performance from So Solid Crew, who will take us back to 2001 at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow. Expect the entire crew to thrill us with 21 seconds with a So Solid melody.
Confirmed MOBO Award performer Laura Mvula leads the way with four nominations at this year's MOBO Awards, which include Best Video for 'Green Garden', Best R&B Soul Act and Best Album for 'Sing To The Moon' . Laura continues to captivate the nation with her soulful tones and striking look.
As well as landing four nominations at this year's MOBO Awards, her album 'Sing To The Moon' peaked at number 9 on the UK Album charts and was recently nominated for the Mercury Music Prize for Best Album. Laura also provided a stunning performance at the year's BBC Urban Proms.

After a star-studded London nominations launch earlier this month, this year’s categories see the likes of Disclosure, Naughty Boy, Rudimental and Wretch 32 in the running for awards, with Laura Mvula and Wiley in the lead with four nominations each. Each category is now open to the public vote which can be placed at www.mobo.com/voting2013.
We return to Glasgow for the third time as the result of a very successful partnership between EventScotland and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau. To mark the arrival of the Awards, there will be events around the city from mid-October, giving residents, local businesses and ticket holders the chance to get involved in a range of related activities.
