Scarface remake to hit cinemas in 2018
Yes, it’s officially happening! Universal Pictures is remaking the 1983 cult classic film Scarface with the help of Coen brothers Joel and Ethan (Angelina Jolie’s “Unbroken” and Steven Spielberg’s “Bridge Of Spies”).
According to Variety, the new Scarface film will be a reimagining of the core immigrant story told in both the 1932 and 1983 films. It will be set in Los Angeles and will focus on a Mexican immigrant. The 1983 film, directed by Brian De Palma, starred Al Pacino (Tony Montana) as a Cuban refugee who arrives in 1980s Miami with nothing and rises to become a powerful drug kingpin.
While the project doesn’t yet have a director or lead actor, Universal announced that their new take on the mobster saga will be released August 10, 2018.
