The experienced Hip Hop artist and coolest man in the world, Snoop Doggy Dogg was in London yet again reminiscing down memory lane, though the night wasn’t without its controversies.
Being it a Snoop Dogg concert, HMV Forum in Kentish Town embarked on a strict screening process. This caused a queue stretching round to the car park and beyond which saw people standing around in the windy backdrop for over an hour.
Supporting act beat boxer Beardyman warmed up the not so packed venue (due to most attendanee’s still outside queuing) but still put on a show worthy of the great man. His mixing live on stage has only seen him reach leaps and bounds after last year playing at all the major festivals and releasing his debut album ‘I Done A Album’.
After Beardyman left the stage at around 9, the only thing left was to see the main man doing what he does best, create a show. Though, sadly, this was not to be the case as an hour had flown by and we were still without Snoop’s introduction. The Boo’s and whistling echoed throughout the 2,350 capacity crowd as the vibe quickly changed from anticipation to disbelief.
But as quickly as the mood changed the first time, it quickly changed back when at 10:15pm, a laid back Snoop Dogg arrived with his DJ, Hip Hop crew and sexy dancers. The night was finally in full swing. Mixing both his collaboration tracks with his own, you had 'Gin & Juice' hand in hand with 'I Wanna F**k You' (Akon) followed by 'Drop It Like It’s Hot' then swiftly onto the classic 'Nuthin’ But A G Thing' (Dr Dre).
By upsetting the crowd earlier with his antics, Snoop decided to annoy a few more by putting on a QPR shirt half way through his set. He obviously didn’t know where he was in terms of a football fan base.
With a short but tasteful tribute to his home boy Nate Dogg who passed away earlier this year, new tracks off his roster 'Wet' and 'Sweat' got a mention before a cover of House Of Pain’s 'Jump Around' really got the crowd moving.
Before leaving, Snoop Dogg told the crowd he loves everyone and anyone who loves him and mentioned he will come back whenever we want him to. He’ll be back in London on the 15th of July where he will play his Doggystyle album in it’s entirety at Lovebox.
