Representing Nigeria - D'Banj
D’Banj also known as the KoKo Master has to be one of the hottest artists to step out of Nigeria, and is setting the music scene by storm.
D’Banj first appeared on our screens in 2005 with the song 'Tongolo' from his debut album, ‘No Long Thing’. Although the song had us whining our waists and singing along, no one could have predicted that D’Banj would become arguably the biggest star of his generation and an international phenomenon.
D’Banj’s latest album ‘The Entertainer’ was released in May 2008 and can only be described as a masterpiece. The album uses universal flavours of Afrobeats, highlife, reggae, funk, dancehall, R&B and Hip Hop to create hit songs such as, ‘Suddenly’, ‘Mo Gbono Feli Feli’ and ‘Fall in Love’. With such hits under his belt, It’s no wonder the Nigerian sensation managed to sell out all tickets for one of the most anticipated summer concerts at the Indigo Arena, O2 which took place last week.
Not only a musical genius, D’Banj is also the Vice-president of Mohits Records, a UN Ambassador, and has also recently partnered up with the Bank PHB for his current Nigerian reality TV show ‘KoKo Mansion’, proving there are no limits to what he can do.
Nominated for MOBO Best African Act in 2007 and 2008, D’Banj is most definitely one to watch! Check out the video below for his hit single 'Suddenly' and let us know what you think.
