Peter Andre backs Tinchy and Dizzee for a "Big Year"
It’s been an up and down year for Mr Andre but whatever the media have reported on his private life, you can’t deny that he’s remained focused on his music and that his determination has paid dividends, with ‘Behind Closed Doors’ reaching number 4 in the charts.
His love for music shines through whenever he speaks and for that reason, over lunch, MOBO CEO and Founder, Kanya King, invited Peter to be the MOBO 2009 backstage showbiz reporter. Reporting live from behind the scenes at the show in Glasgow, Peter will be chatting with the performers, winners and presenters as they come off stage, and giving people a taste of what’s going on at the MOBO Awards 2009.
“I was really honoured when I met the founder [Kanya King] and we had a nice little chat. She asked me if I wanted to be part of this year’s MOBOs… I’m just honoured to be part of it really.”
Always passionate about his craft, Peter’s desire for music began from an early age. Growing up listening to the sounds of Motown, the likes of The Jacksons, Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson became a major influence in his later life, both musically and personally.
“You’ll hear a lot of early Jackson influences [in my music] – coz I loved all that stuff. There’s a song called ‘Go Back’ which is very old school.”
Speaking exclusively to MOBO.com at the Nominations Launch, Peter revealed that he’s got his money on Tinchy Stryder and thinks that both Tinchy and Dizzee are looking to have a BIG year.
As thrilled as we are that MOBO music is finally getting the mainstream recognition it so deserves, Peter’s love of the genre shines through: “It can be called the music of black origin. But really it’s just the origin of music.”
And it’s clear that he’s certainly looking forward to the event on 30th September – as are we!
