On Monday night Shoreditch House once again played host to Wired, one of London's coolest live music nights. Among the artists performing on the night were recent MOBO.com featured artist Cleo Sol and BBC sound of 2011 artist Daley, both of whom we were very excited to see live.
First to take to the stage however was young up and coming singer songwriter Will Heard. We hadn’t heard of Will before but when he took to the stage he silenced the room with one of the most exciting and mature voices I have heard in ages. An incredibly soulful, bluesy tone combined with a vocal range that defies his 19 years. Will displayed a classic songwriting style and an inventive selection of covers, one of the crowed favorites being his stripped down acoustic version of Jessie J’s ‘Do It Like A Dude’. In the breakdown the audience were treated to some virtuoso guitar solos from him and his crazy good lead guitarist. This is potentially a huge artist in the making. He Will be Heard....
Next up on the Wired stage was BBC Sound of 2011 artist Daley. Fresh off the back of his Gorillaz collaboration Doncamatic, Daley has been making some big waves and building a fiercely loyal online following. Showcasing some of the tracks on his upcoming debut album, Daley displayed an impressive vocal range and flawless delivery. His cover of Maxwell’s Pretty Wings was an instant crowed favorite and perfectly showed off his impeccable vocal skills. However it was his self penned original track 'Blame the World' that was our favorite of the night. A stunnigly beautiful melody and poignant lyrics. We see big things for Daley this year. Shout outs to SBTV.
Also check out his amazing performance of the song on SBTV.
Last but certainly not least was R&B/soul songstress Cleo Sol. Backed by just an acoustic guitar and a percussionist Cleo performed a stripped down selection of original material and covers. Though she’d earlier tweeted she was suffering from Flu, it certainly did not show in her performance. Her effortlessly soulful vocals and emotive songwriting are somewhat reminiscent of a cross between Jasmine Sullivan and Keri Hilson, with a healthy sprinkle of UK flavor on top. Beautiful voice, beautiful songs, beautiful lady.
