Kanye West Denies Wireless 2014 Booing!

Kanye West Denies Wireless 2014 Booing!

During his set at the London leg of Wireless festival this weekend, Kanye West was said to have been booed by fans after spending 20 minutes of his 90 minute set in a long and passionate rant. Dressed in a mask, which he wore for five full tracks before removing, West took to the stage to perform a mixture of tracks, opening with “Black Skinhead” and featured renditions of “Stronger,” “Runaway,” “New Slaves” and “Bound 2,” among others. Filling in for scheduled headliner Drake, Kanye also made sure the crowd remembered Drizzy by playing "Trophies," "We Made It," and "All Me" during his set. "My homeboy Drake can't be here but we still gotta rep for him tonight," he said.

However, with the hits also came a trademark rant. According to NME, the rapper took a fifteen-minute detour during "Runaway" for an Auto-Tuned, freestyled speech addressing his frustrations with fashion houses, corporations, and other institutions with which he's been involved. He also talked about the L.A.X. confrontation that led to his arrest last year, marrying Kim Kardashian and North West.

“I’m not going to call no names, I’m not going to say Nike or anything," West said, adding: I’m not dissing Louis Vuitton, I’m not dissing the Gucci group and shit. I’m just saying, don’t discriminate against me because I’m a black man, or because I’m a celebrity, to determine that I can’t create. Cause, you know, no black guy or celebrity's making no Louis Vuitton nothing.
He said: “I’m a designer. A musician. A manager. The media try to dishumanise [sic] people who believe in themselves. What they’re saying the whole time is I’m not particularly serious.

“They take the idea of celebrity and make me feel like I’m stupid or something. Yet if you are creative and you want to create more, this is exactly what I’ve been fighting for… F**k whatever anyone thinks. It’s about Kanye’s dreams.
“They’re trying to control all of you….If this is what you want to to do, if this if what you want to change the world, this is what you have to do.”

While some fans were upset by the rant and left, most stayed and watched Kanye resume his set, playing hits such as "Good Life" and "Bound 2."

As he took his set to the Birmingham leg of Wireless Festival 2014, according to The Birmingham Mail, Kanye took the time to attack the media for claiming he was booed during his London performance:

"It doesn't matter what I say, from the top of my mind to the bottom of my heart there is nothing they can do to stop me," he said. "The media wrote that people booed and you know what, I'm not going to lie, I'm not invincible.  It hurt me a little bit because I knew how much of a good time that everyone had."
He added: "I'm sorry that I'm not a complete belligerent arsehole that I normally am, but I will be back."
