So another week is flying by - the show is getting close and the excitement is building! I took time out from event planning last week to attend the Comfort Prima High Street Fashion Awards in Battersea on Thursday night. I was presenting the Award for Best Customer Service which went to Marks and Spencer – very odd experiencing the other side of an Award show!
There was lots of famous faces at the event; Beverley Knight, Nancy Sorrell, Denise Lewis, Lulu and MOBO Newcomer Nominee, Jade Ewen to name a few! I was sitting on a table with Sophie Anderton who was chatting candidly about her Jeremy Kyle appearance and people kept swinging by the table to ask her about it – I didn’t realise so many people were at home during the day!! Sophie reminded me of a brilliant MOBO story – it was 2003 and she had arrived in beautiful, long designer dress when one of the security guards stepped on it and ripped it! Luckily, Lil Kim stepped up and helped her out by lending her a dress – now, we all know that Lil Kim has a particular style but Sophie pulled it off and looked fabulous as always! I love hearing these little MOBO anecdotes – it’s what makes us unique, and in 14 years we’ve racked up quite a few!
Also on our table was designer, Scott Henshall who was asking about this year’s MOBO Awards. I was letting him know about our fantastic line up and he was telling me all about his amazing clothes – suits adorned with Swarovski diamantes – they sounded incredible! And when he found out that Mr Reggie Yates was hosting, he suggested he swing by for a fitting!
I hope you’ve all checked out our exclusive mobo.com Peter Andre footage? A journalist from New! was telling our table about how when Peter comes in to talk about his column he makes time to introduce himself to everyone and spends a lot of time there. He’s such a lovely guy. Peter’s going to be our backstage reporter at this year’s Awards so we can’t wait to see the footage!
Right, more exciting show announcements to come this week…not long now!
