The UK charts in the last couple of years have been dominated by UK urban artists. The Tinie Tempah's and Wretch 32's of the world have been on the mark and have constantly delivered to the masses what the people want. Another name that has to be added to that list is Example. The once dubbed 'white rapper' changed his sound with his second album 'Won't Go Quietly' in 2010 and he hasn't looked back since. With the popular club tracks 'Kickstarts' and 'Watch The Sun Come Up' helping Example to enter the fold, 2011's release 'Playing With Shadows' only pushed his profile further. Transformed from a theatre artists to an arena god, Elliot Gleave has now experienced another landmark by signing in the US for major record label Mercury/Universal.
The Americans might not yet have had a taste of what the rapper from Fulham can do, but with tracks like 'Changed The Way You Kissed Me' and 'Stay Awake' blowing away the UK market, the US public will only follow suit. Billboard have already described Example as a ' new contender for the throne of hottest British rapper in the world' and with this deal with Mercury records going ahead, there is no stopping him.
Example has said 'I'm pleased to have signed to a major label like Mercury/Universal in the US. It was important to me to sign with someone who understands not only my ambitions but also the way I work. I want to do it on my own terms, I enjoy a good challenge and can’t wait to get started.'
Example is currently working on his 4th record but will be in action in couple of months around Europe, not to mention a 10 date UK Arena tour next month to deal with. The only way is up for Example.
