Beyonce - Woman of the Year
Actress, Singer, Model…It seems as if there are no limits to what Beyonce Knowles can do. The R&B sensation that was once part of Destiny’s Child has had a phenomenal year…and it certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed.
The jaw dropping R&B star has been announced as US music magazine Billboard's Woman of the Year for "inspiring the music business with her success". Not only that, but the singer whose latest album ‘I am Sasha Fierce’ was number one in the US charts and spawned a string of hit singles including the smash hit ‘Single Ladies’ (which we have to admit had us watching YouTube learning the moves); is also being honored for her influence on pop culture. The superstar will be honored by the industry publication at its annual Women in Music event, and will be on hand to accept her award at the Oct. 2 event in New York City.
Billboard's editorial director, Bill Werde said: ‘Beyonce is a multi-platinum artist and a multi-talented woman who clearly embodies the qualities of excellence and achievement the award was created to honour.’ …‘She has inspired women everywhere with her unique style and business savvy,’ and we at MOBO couldn’t agree more. The unstoppable diva gets a ‘You go girl’ from the MOBO team.
