Headline Sponsor of the MOBO Awards 2009, 2010 and 2011, Lebara Mobile this week announced the strongest financial results in the company’s nine year history. The current global market leader in providing high quality low-cost international mobile services, Lebara joined forces with MOBO in September last year, ahead of the Awards in Glasgow. The company, which now has more than 2.5 million active mobile customers, also announced the creation of over 400 new jobs, half of which will join Lebara’s UK operations in marketing, sales and customer services.
Yoganathan Ratheesan, CEO of Lebara Group, said: “Our strong revenue growth is driven by the exceptional adoption of our award-winning offering which when added to our targeted distribution strategy and unique customer support, makes us a formidable and compelling force in the market. I am delighted with the team’s impressive achievements last year and we have exciting plans for further significant growth as we go into 2010.”
Lebara Mobile also recently announced its first mainstream television commercial, which is running on Eurosport during the African Cup of Nations football tournament. “In addition, we will continue to market the brand over various media outlets and sponsorship of the MOBO awards as a headline sponsor.” said Chief Operating Officer Tim Wort.
Kanya King, CEO and Founder of the MOBO Awards commented “The union of the two brands was born through recognizing the synergies between them; both Lebara and MOBO are keen to connect with their audiences throughout the UK and have a deep understanding of their respective cultures – MOBO reaching out through Music and Lebara through bringing people together by keeping them in touch. This fantastic growth spurt Lebara is experiencing, during what is a very difficult period economically, further cements that we are both on the same page when it comes to augmenting and strengthening our businesses and weathering the storm.”
